Men’s Tennis Falls on Monday Hosting Bucknell
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 5-1 while hosting the Bucknell Bison in a non-conference dual on Monday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
Bucknell got on the board first by earning the doubles point. The Bison got it started with Oscar Bain and Adam Stavrakas teaming up to win 6-4 over UNCG's William Elmers and Luke Thomson. The Spartans answered with John Gabelic and Tymofiy Khrystyuk beating Brendan McDonald and Amar Tahirovic, 7-6 (2). Bucknell went on to win the third doubles match to secure the first point of the dual when Liam Kilmer and Shiv Singh won 7-5 over Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz.
Tahirovic made it 2-0 Bison by earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gabelic. Stavrakas then defeated Khrystyuk, 6-4, 6-4, to make it 3-0. UNCG picked up its first point of the afternoon to cut it to 5-1 when Moskowitz defeated McDonald, 6-4, 6-2. However, Bucknell answered with two more wins from Kilmer, 6-4, 6-4, and Bain, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5). The final singles match of the day was left unfinished between Elmers and Singh as Bucknell finished on top in the dual, 5-1.
