Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Season with Tribe Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will open its fall season with the Tribe Invitational, hosted by William & Mary from Sept. 14-15 in Williamsburg, Virginia, at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will open its fall season with the Tribe Invitational, hosted by William & Mary from Sept. 14-15 in Williamsburg, Virginia, at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
Tournament Information:
- The event will be played both outdoors (Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts) and indoors (McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center).
- Competition will start at 9:00 a.m. both days. Saturday will be two rounds of singles followed by one round of doubles. Sunday will be two rounds of doubles followed by the final round of singles.

UNCG, William & Mary, Cincinnati and Richmond
Spartans Last Season:
- The Spartans concluded the 2024 regular season 3-19 overall.
- UNCG went 1-6 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- The squad concluded the 2024 season falling 4-0 to ETSU in the SoCon Tournament.
- Lauren Thomson led the Spartans with a 9-10 overall record in singles last season.
- Current sophomore Sydney Bly and recent graduate Juliana Craft led the team in doubles with a 5-15 overall record.
- The Spartans are returning seven members from last season's roster and welcoming two newcomers.
- Head Coach Mat Iandolo enters his first season with UNCG in the 2024-25 year.
Scouting the Opponents
- William & Mary – The Tribe concluded the 2024 season 18-6 overall. The squad was named CAA Champions to earn a spot in the 2024 NCAA Championship, but fell to No. 29 Wisconsin in the first round. Hedda Gurholt returns as the leader in singles wins last season with a 28-6 record. Sophomore Francesca Davis returns as the leading doubles player at 24-6 in 2024.
- Cincinnati – The Bearcats marked an 8-15 overall record in 2024. The team concluded the season falling to Texas Tech, 4-0 at the Big 12 Championships. Rozalia Gruszczynska returns as the leader in singles play last season at 10-12 overall, while Morgan Pyrz returns as the doubles leader from last season with a 12-6 record.
- Richmond – The Spiders concluded the 2024 slate with an 11-11 overall record. The team finished the 2024 season falling to UMass, 2-4 in the Atlantic-10 Championship.
