Horne Named Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) head men's soccer coach Chris Rich announced the hiring of Josh Horne as an assistant men's soccer coach on Tuesday.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Horne to the UNCG family," Rich said. "He comes to UNCG with great experience that will prove to be very impactful to our program. It's always a major bonus when you can hire someone with head coaching experience!
He is an incredible person with a high-energy personality, so I know he will be a huge asset to our staff and student-athletes."
Horne comes to Greensboro from Barton College, where he has served as the head coach for men's soccer since August of 2022.
In two seasons at the helm for the Bulldogs in Wilson, N.C., Horne led his team to a 13-14-9 overall record as well as 8-7-7 mark in the Conference Carolinas. Under Horne, the Bulldogs reached the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship last season.
Before taking over at Barton, Horne spent the 2021 season as the Associate Head Coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University, an NCAA Division II program in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Prior to his stay at PBA, Horne coached five seasons as an assistant at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (2017-21), leading the Chargers to three berths in the Gulf South Conference Tournament including the championship game in 2017.
Horne, a graduate of Hastings College (Neb.) with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and kinesiology, was a member of a Broncos' squad which captured the 2016 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship. Horne also earned his master's degree from UAH in professional communications.
Horne is a native of Stoke-On-Trent, England, and has his USSF C License, USC GK National Level 3 Diploma and Level 3 Fitness & Performance Diploma.
