Giles & Atwell Named to SoCon All-Conference Teams

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team saw two voted to The Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Conference teams, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team saw two voted to The Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Conference teams, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
 
Junior Kenyon Giles was named to the All-SoCon First Team, while classmate Donovan Atwell was selected to the All-SoCon Third Team. These are both juniors' first awards from the conference.
 
Giles has had a standout year thus far, having career bests in multiple categories. He is averaging 15.7 points per game and has 1.13 steals per game to lead the Spartans. He has chipped in 2.9 rebounds per game and 1.8 assists per game. The Chesapeake, Virginia, native has also seen career bests in field goal percentage (45.48) and three-point percentage (40.72).
 
Among the nation, Giles' three-point percentage is 40th overall and fifth in the SoCon. He is also fourth with 365 field goal attempts, fifth with 166 field goals, sixth in the SoCon with 2.7 three-pointers per game, seventh with a 45.5 field goal percentage, eighth with 79 total three-point field goals made, eighth with 15.7 points per game and ninth with 194 three-point attempts.
 
Atwell has also had a career-best season, averaging 13.7 points per game, which is second on the team. He has also seen career numbers in rebounds per game (3.3) and assists per game (0.8). The Huntersville, North Carolina, native is shooting 40.8 percentage from field goal range, 40.3 percentage from the three-point range and 90.6 from the charity stripe.
 
Among the nation, Atwell is in the top 50 in total three-point field goals made (19th/96), three-pointers per game (23rd/3.10), three-point attempts (26th/238) and three-point percentage (43rd/40.3). In the SoCon, he is second in three-point attempts, third in three-pointers per game and total three-point field goals made and sixth in three-point percentage.

UP NEXT
UNCG turned in its third-straight 20-win season at 20-11 overall and 13-5 in SoCon play and earned the second seed in the 2025 SoCon Tournament. This was the eighth year in Jones' time as a head coach at Radford and UNCG with 20 or more wins and third-straight season with 20 or more wins in the Blue & Gold. With the victory over Samford, UNCG reached the 20-win mark for the eighth year out of nine.
 
The Tournament takes place between March 7-10 at Harrah's Cherokee Center – Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina.
