Dutton to Take on NCAA Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Colin Dutton of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team will take on the NCAA Amherst Regional from May 12-14 in Amherst, Viriginia, at Poplar Grove Golf Course.

THE FORMAT
The NCAA Regionals will consist of three rounds. Previously slated for one round each day, the NCAA Amherst Regional will now start on Sunday with round one at 1:45 p.m. due to potential weather. Round one will be resumed on Monday where play was stopped, while the second and third rounds will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectfully. 
 
ABOUT THE NCAA REGIONALS
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals (not on those teams) will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals (not on those teams). The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.

LSU, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Pepperdine, Tennessee, Arizona, Stanford, Wake Forest, Arkansas, Florida Golf Coast, Kent State, Princeton and Howard.
 
PARTICIPATING INDIVIDUALS AT AMHERST REGIONAL
UNCG (Colin Dutton), West Virginia (Kaleb Wilson), Maryland (Emil Riegger), Liberty (Ike Joy), Clemson (Andew Swanson), Campbell (Henric Bjelke), Texas State (Sakke Siltala), Holy Cross (Nolan Schuermann), St. John's (Peicheng Chen) and UConn (Alex Heard).
 
SOCON IN THE NCAA REGIONALS: East Tennessee State University (Reno Regional) and Furman (Tallahassee Regional) will compete as team, while one individual from Chattanooga, Camden Braidech, (Auburn Regional) will all represent the conference this year in the NCAA Regionals.
 
ABOUT COLIN DUTTON

  • Dutton claimed first place in The 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships on April 22 to earn an automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Regionals.
  • He carded a 10-under-par (206) behind rounds of 69-66-71 over the three days.
  • Dutton's six-under-par (66) in the second round matched his collegiate best and marked a new round best at UNCG.
  • Dutton is seventh in the SoCon standings with a 72.06 stroke average across 32 total rounds. 
  • He has posted five top-15 tournament finishes this season.
  • His best regular season finish came at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 25 when he earned a tie for fourth place behind an eight-under-par (208).
  • His stellar season led him to be named to the All-SoCon Team, announced on April 29.
  • The last time a Spartan earned the individual SoCon Championship was in the 2018 season when Nick Lyerly earned the feat.
  • It is the third time in UNCG program history an individual Spartan was named the SoCon Champion.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS

  • UNCG finished in second place in the 2025 SoCon Championships with an overall score of 18-under-par (846) behind rounds of 277-285-284.
  • The Spartans have carded four first-place finishes this season. UNCG finished first at the Sea Palms Invitational on March 15, 2025, the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 25, 2025, the Elon Invitational on Oct. 15, 2024, and the Bryan National Collegiate on Sept. 10, 2024.
  • The last time UNCG collected four tournament wins in a single season was in 2018-19 when the team earned the SoCon Championship Title.
  • This is the first time in UNCG men's golf program history the team has collected four regular season tournament wins.
  • The squad earned five SoCon Golfer of the Week recognitions this season: Jake Lewis (March 19, 2025 & April 2, 2025), Jack Marcotte & Dutton (Feb. 26, 2024) and Kelvin Hernandez (Sept. 11, 2024).  
  • This is the first time in UNCG program history that the team has earned five SoCon Golfer of the Week recognitions in a single season.
  • The previous record was four in a season, which was achieved in both 2021-22 and 2019-20.
  • UNCG continues to lead the SoCon in Men's Golfer of the Week honors with 41 in program history.
