Men’s Golf Earns GCAA Presidents Special Recognition Academic Award
NORMAN, Okla. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team has earned a spot on the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award Presidents Special Recognition list, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday.
A GCAA-record 292 schools across six divisions earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award. A total of 129 schools received Presidents Special Recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or above.
Among The Southern Conference (SoCon), Furman and Mercer were also tabbed to the GCAA Presidents Special Recognition list, while Chattanooga and ETSU earned a spot on the GCAA All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the All-Academic Team mention, a team must have earned a 3.00 grade-point average (GPA) or above for the 2024-25 academic year.
Along with the team award, four Spartans were also named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division I Cobalt GCAA All-America Scholar list announced last week, including, B.J. Boyce, Colin Dutton, Kelvin Hernandez and Jack Marcotte.

Established in 1958, the GCAA is the professional organization of men's collegiate golf coaches. The GCAA's mission is to support its member coaches from six divisions, including the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA, by creating educational opportunities, providing resources and promoting its members with the purpose of enhancing their overall performance as coaches, mentors and teachers. The GCAA also recognizes the excellence and achievements of its members and their student-athletes in academic, athletic and civic endeavors.
