Men’s Soccer Secures 3-1 Win Over Davidson
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team scored three first-half goals en route to a 3-1 dominant win over Davidson at UNCG Soccer Stadium on Tuesday night. Arnaud Tattevin, Issah Haruna and Enzo Dovlo all scored goals with Julien Le Bourdoulous contributing two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game started out hot for the Spartans' offense with four shots in the first 20 minutes to put the Wildcats on the defensive early. In the 24th minute, Haruna launched a long pass to forward Steven Hernandez who danced his way into the box and crossed back to the streaking Haruna who put the ensuing shot in the back of the net to give UNCG the 1-0 lead. That goal was Haruna's first goal of the season and first since October 15, 2024. UNCG's offense continued to hammer away at the Davidson defense. Le Bourdoulous was able to slip away from a defender and put a shot on goal in the 29th minute. The goalkeeper palmed the shot away but found the waiting feet of Tattevin who tapped in the goal to put the score at 2-0. The final goal for the Spartans took place in the 33rd minute, when Dovlo resumed his scoring ways with a goal to put him at seven for the year. Le Bourdoulous was credited with the assist giving him four in the season and tying him for the team lead. The Spartans entered halftime up 3-0 and did not concede a shot from the Wildcats in the first half.
In the second half, the game became more physical with both teams committing a combined 20 fouls in the half. Davidson scratched a goal back in the 52nd minute to give them life late. However, the Spartans maintained possession throughout the half, not allowing the Davidson attack to get into rhythm. UNCG was able to chew up the remainder of the clock to close the game out at 3-1.
