Men’s Tennis to Host Three Straight Against The Citadel, ETSU and Bucknell
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team is set to host three straight matches against The Citadel Bulldogs, East Tennessee State (ETSU) Buccaneers and Bucknell Bison at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- UNCG is 4-6 overall and 0-1 to start competition in The Southern Conference (SoCon) after dropping its last test at Furman, 7-0, on Feb. 28 in Greenville, South Carolina.
- The Spartans' four wins have all come at home. First defeating USC Sumter, 7-0, on Feb. 7 before edging out Longwood at Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center, 4-3, on Feb. 15, thumping Belmont Abbey, 7-0, on Feb. 22 and overcoming Coastal Carolina, 4-3, on Feb. 25 at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
- UNCG is 4-1 at home and 0-5 on the road this season.
- William Elmers and John Gabelic are leading the Spartans in doubles with a team-best 6-3 record.
- Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz are 5-5 so far while competing in doubles.
- Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Luke Thomson own a 2-6 mark in doubles this season.
- Moskowitz leads the Spartans with a 7-3 record in singles.
- Gabelic owns the second-best singles record so far at 6-4.
- Elmers is third on the team with a 5-5 mark in singles.
- Black and Moskowitz were ranked No. 79 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Doubles Rankings on Dec. 5, 2024.
- Black and Moskowitz teamed up to post a 7-0 record and six points for their first national ranking in either singles or doubles. The duo earned its seven wins during the fall season, with a pair during the UNCG Fall Invitational, three at the Davidson Fall Invitational and two more during the Spartan Fall Invitational.
- The Spartans played in five different tournaments this past fall including the UNCG Fall Invitational, Davidson Fall Invitational, ITA Regional Championships, Spartan Fall Invitational and Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
- Last season's men's tennis squad finished 6-16 overall with an 0-7 mark in the SoCon.
- The season ended with a 4-0 loss to top-seeded ETSU in the SoCon Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- Khrystyuk paced the team in singles with a 9-10 record. Gabelic was right behind him with a 9-12 record for the season.
- Khrystyuk and Thomson led the way for the Spartans in doubles play with a 5-6 record and 2-2 mark in the SoCon.
- The Spartans have five returning juniors on their roster this season as well as three freshmen (Elmers, Eric Lindemann and Alan Trbonja) who are in their first year at UNCG.
- Head Coach Jeff Trivette is in his 25th season with UNCG Tennis.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- The Citadel is 2-13 overall with an 0-2 record in SoCon play.
- The Bulldogs are headed to Greensboro after competing against Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
- Reece Beckendorf and Noah Van Dyke lead the team in doubles wins with a 2-8 record.
- Beckendorf, Van Dyke, Bradey Minnich and Anthony Osipov are each tied with three doubles victories this season.
- The Citadel will head to Buies Creek, North Carolina, after facing UNCG to compete against the Campbell Camels on Saturday.
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
- ETSU is 5-4 overall so far this season.
- The Buccaneers are riding a four-match win streak, with wins in the stretch over Lipscomb, 5-2, UNC Asheville, 4-1, Belmont, 4-2, and most recently Tennessee Tech, 6-1.
- The Bucs match against the Spartans on Saturday will mark their first SoCon contest of the season.
- Pedro Cressoni and James Sim lead the Bucs with a 3-2 mark so far in doubles.
- Cressoni and Carlos Gonzalez each own a 6-3 record in singles, which leads the team.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Bucknell is 7-3 this season with a 1-0 record in the Patriot League.
- The Bison are coming off a 5-2 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, California, last time out.
- Bucknell will face Richmond on the road Saturday before completing its trip to Greensboro for Monday's match.
- Brendan McDonald and Amar Tahirovic have been a force when teaming up, posting an 11-5 record so far in doubles this season.
- Adam Stavrakas leads the Bison in singles with a 20-3 record.
- Tahirovic is a close second in singles so far with an 18-2 record.
