Lewis & Marcotte Lead Men’s Golf to Fourth-Place Finish in Johnnie-O at Sea Island
SEA ISLAND, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished in fourth place on Tuesday in the Johnnie-O at Sea Island at Seaside Golf Course.
SEA ISLAND, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished in fourth place on Tuesday in the Johnnie-O at Sea Island at Seaside Golf Course.
Due to inclement weather on Monday, the tournament was shortened to two rounds as opposed to the original three.
TEAM
- UNCG carded rounds of 285-277 to earn a final score of two-over-par (562) for the fourth-place finish in the 13-team field.
- Cincinnati finished in first place to be the only team to notch an under-par score in the tournament with a one-under-par (559).
- Marquette and Florida Golf Coast tied for second-place with a an even-par score (560).
- UNCG bested seven teams that are ranked in the top-100 nationally in the tournament in Kansas (50), Michigan State (56), Princeton (72), Nebraska (85), Memphis (90), West Virginia (94) and Georgia Southern (96).
- The Spartans led all teams with a 2.92 average on par threes. The team finished second with 123 total pars.
INDIVIDUAL
- Jack Marcotte and Jake Lewis finished on top for the Spartans behind an even-par score (140) to conclude the tournament tied for 10th place.
- Marcotte and Lewis both notched rounds of 72-68 in the tournament.
- Marcotte led all 80 players in the field with 30 total pars over the two rounds.
- B.J. Boyce and Kelvin Hernandez followed close behind to finish tied for 38th place with a four-over-par (144).
- Boyce recorded an even-par (70) in round one and a four-over-par (74) in the second round.
- Hernandez notched rounds of 71-73 in the two-day event.
- Colin Dutton carded a five-over-par (145) to secure a tie for 45th place.
- Dutton posted a seven-over-par (77) in the first round, but returned to the field to shoot a two-under-par (68) in round two.
- As the individual competing, Liam Percy rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans to finish in a tie for 78th place with a 15-over-par (155).
