Women’s Golf Tied for Fourth at Pirate Collegiate Classic, Will Resume Final Rounds Tuesday
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team is tied for fourth midway through the second round following Monday's action at the Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina at Greenville Country Club.
After completing the first round of the tournament, play was paused midway through the second round due to inclement weather. The Spartans carded a four-over-par (292) in the opening round and currently share a tie of fourth with fellow Southern Conference foe Wofford at 13-over-par (394).
TEAM
- Freshman Sophie Lauture leads UNCG at even through five holes in the second round. She shot an one-under- par (71) in the first round with five birdies.
- Senior Ava Romfo and Sophomore Elle Burnette are tied for 13th at two-over-par in the second round with Romfo having completed six holes while Burnette has five by the wayside. Romfo shot one-under-par (71) in the first round and carded four birdies while Burnette turned in three birdies to finish even (72) after completing the first 18 holes.
- Junior Julia Baeumken stands tied for 58th in the second round at nine-over-par after completing seven holes so far in the second round. She shot a six-over-par (78) in the opening round with one birdie along the way.
- Senior Grace Holcomb is tied for 64th at 11-over-par eight holes into the second round. She scored eight-over-par (80) in the opening round with one birdie.
- High Point leads the team leaderboard at even par after shooting one-under-par (287) in round one. The tournament host, East Carolina is second at three-over-par after finishing even (288) in round one. Jacksonville State stands at third at 11-over-par after shooting a five-over-par (293) in the initial round.
INDIVIDUAL
- Spartan sophomore Kasey McIlvaine is tied for third at one-under-par after the first day. She shot a 71 in the first round and has remained at one-under through six holes in round two. She has three birdies so far.
- Competing in her first collegiate tournament, UNCG freshman Lulu Leetham is tied for 28th after shooting a three-over-par (75) in the first round and carding a one-over-par so far five holes into the second round. She has posted five birdies so far.
- High Point's Anna Howerton leads the tournament's player leaderboard with a five-under-par. She finished round one two-under-par (70) and is currently three-under in the second round with eight holes completed.

UNCG will continue the second round starting at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday before beginning the third and final round to close out the tournament.
