Gamble Selected to WBCA “So You Want To Be A Coach Program”
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior guard Jayde Gamble of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team has been selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) So You Want To Be A Coach" program.
"Getting this opportunity is a blessing because I will grow my knowledge within the coaching world," said Gamble. "I want to be a coach because basketball has always been an outlet for me, and I want to give back to the next generations. Basketball is a great representation of life and helping others navigate and grow is my main way of giving back to the game."
In order to be a part of the program, the nominee must provide a one page resume, one page personal statement, one page later of recommendation from the nominees head coach and a video, 30 seconds or less, by the nominee stating, "Why I Want To Be A Coach."
To be eligible, a nominee must have exhausted her final year of basketball eligibility at a four-year institution or graduated within the past year and be a women's basketball player who wants to pursue a career in coaching. She also must be a credit to the sport of women's basketball both on and off the court and be nominated by her head coach, who must be an active WBCA member, while having a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
More About the WBCA's "So You Want To Be A Coach" Program
The WBCA's "So You Want To Be A Coach" program assists female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills enhancement, networking and exposure opportunities. The program also increases awareness regarding the availability of talented female basketball players who want to coach.
The 2025 program will be held in-person during the WBCA Convention in Tampa, Florida, from April 2-4, 2025.
UNCG will face Western Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
