Women’s Golf Jumps Three Spots in Final Round at Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team concluded the Golfweek Fall Challenge in a tie for seventh place out out of 20 competing schools after the final round on Tuesday at Caledonia Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team concluded the Golfweek Fall Challenge in a tie for seventh place out out of 20 competing schools after the final round on Tuesday at Caledonia Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. 

  
 
TEAM 

  • UNCG carded a two-over-par (286) in the final round of play for the third best team score on the day. 

  • The Spartans turned in an overall score of 19-over par (871). 

  • In the entire tournament, UNCG had the fourth best Par three score at 3.04 average.  

  • As a team, the Spartans recorded 12 birdies and 63 pars in the final round. 

  • UNCG had the third most pars in the tournament with 178 over three days. 

  • Charlotte won the tournament with a seven-under-par (845). 

INDIVIDUAL 

  • Freshman Chanelle Mwangi led the Spartans for the tournament with a two-over-par (215) performance over three days tying her at 17th. 

  • Mwangi was tied for the most pars recorded over the tournament with 42.  

  • Sophie Lauture finished five-over-par (281) for the tournament and shot a one-under-par (70) for the final round to jump 17 spots to finish tied for 29th. 

  • Lulu Leetham carded a three-over par (74) on the final round. She ended the tournament with an overall five-over par (218) to finish tied for 29th.  

  • Leetham shot a 2.87 stroke average on par three's this tournament which was tied for fifth in the entire field. 

  • Julia Baeumken rebounded in the final round, posting a three-under par (68). Baeumken climbed 30 spots to be tied for 41st place with a seven-over par (220) final score. 

  • Kasey McIlvaine carded a four-over par (75) and ended the tournament with a cumulative score of 11-over par (224) and tied for 59th. 

  • Elle Burnette rounds out the team with an eight-over par (79) final round with a 13-over par final score, tied for 79th.
