Women’s Golf’s Romfo Tied for Fifth After First Day of National Golf Invitational

Senior Ava Romfo is pacing the Spartans in a tie for fifth on the player leaderboard. She shot one-under-par (71) in the opening round.
TEAM
- The Spartans are tied for seventh at 12-over-par (300) after the first round.
- UNCG is tied for seventh with the Bowling Green Falcons after day one.
- The Spartans are two strokes ahead of ninth-place Seattle and one shy of sixth-place Rutgers.
- The only other SoCon foe in the field, Mercer, is fifth at 10-over-par (298).
- UNCG is leading the tournament after day one with an even score on par threes.
- The Spartans are tied for fourth so far with 12 birdies as well as being sixth with 51 pars after the first round.
- Eastern Michigan is at the top of the team leaderboard after round one at three-over-par (291).
INDIVIDUAL
- Romfo is leading the Spartans and tied for fifth after shooting one-under-par (71) in round one. She is tied for the lead when playing on par threes with a 2.75 stroke average and one-under-par score.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine and freshman Lulu Leetham are tied for second on the team and 21st overall after both shot a three-over-par (75) on Friday.
- McIlvaine is tied for first with 13 pars in the tournament.
- Romfo and Leetham are tied for sixth with four birdies in the early going.
- Leetham is tied for fourth when playing par fives, averaging 4.50 strokes for two-under-par so far on par fives.
- Freshman Sophie Lauture is fourth for the Spartans after scoring a seven-over-par (79) in the first round.
- Junior Julia Baeumken carded an eight-over-par (80) in the opening round.
- Eastern Michigan's Angelica Holman is leading the tournament after round one at three-under-par (69).
