HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was a back-and-forth gritty battle, as both teams settled into play. In the 80th minute, Samford was called for a foul about 25 yards out. Haydan Erck took the free kick which was initially punched. Ava Kiss then headed it into the six-yard box where Rachel Poplin then volleyed it over the outstretched goalkeeper for a 1-0 advantage. The Bulldogs netted the equalizer at 84:56 that nicked the underneath of the crossbar and crossed the line. With just 16 seconds left, Samford's Layton Glisson sent a left-footed laser to the back of the net for the game winner, 2-1.
