Michael Earns SoCon Player of the Week Award
SoCon Announces Weekly Softball Player & Pitcher of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team saw freshman Macy Michael selected as The Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
Michael assisted the Spartans to a 2-0 week, which included the third SoCon series sweep this season and fifth SoCon series win of the season. Over the two games, Michael went 5-for-6 with three runs scored, one double, one home run, eight RBI, one walk and a sacrifice fly. She had a 1.500 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage.
In the field, she committed just one error at third base, totalling eight assists with nine catches. Michael is currently in the top 10 in the SoCon in batting average (.347), runs (35) and home runs (9).
UNCG defeated SoCon foe Western Carolina 7-3 in game one and then 9-1 in six innings in game two. In game one, Michael went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and being one hit shy of the cycle. She kicked off the game with a grand slam in the first inning to give UNCG a 4-0 lead. Michael led off the bottom of the third with a double and then in the bottom of the fifth and sixth she hit singles.
In the six-inning 9-1 victory against the Catamounts, Michael went 1-for-2 with one run scored, two RBI, one walk and a sacrifice fly.

UP NEXT
With the doubleheader sweep and Chattanooga winning its series against ETSU, 2-1, the Spartans will have the second seed in the 2025 SoCon Softball Championship, presented by One Spartanburg. The Tournament will take place from May 7-10 at Hope Field, hosted by Wofford, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
UNCG will face the winner of No. 3 Samford vs. No. 7 ETSU/No. 6 Western Carolina on Thursday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m.
