Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Slate Hosting UNCG Tournament
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team is set to open its fall schedule with the UNCG Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the UNCG Tennis Courts. The Spartans will host North Carolina Central University (NCCU), Davidson, Campbell, UNC Wilmington (UNCW) and North Carolina A&T for the two-day tournament.

The Spartans will host North Carolina Central University (NCCU), Davidson, Campbell, UNC Wilmington (UNCW) and North Carolina A&T for the two-day tournament.
Tournament Information:
- Over the two days, all teams will compete in three singles and three doubles matches.
- Both days will be a 9:00 a.m. start with warm-ups beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Spartans Last Season:
- UNCG concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign.
- Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
Scouting the Opponents
- NCCU – The Eagles concluded the 2025 spring slate 13-9 overall and 5-1 in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC). NCCU made its first-ever appearance in the MEAC Tennis Championship match last season. However, the team fell, 4-0, to South Carolina State in the finale. Alejandra Hidalgo Vega and Patricia Palencia return as the best singles players from last season with 14 wins apiece. Vega also led the squad with 12 doubles wins last year.
- Davidson – The Wildcats finished up the 2025 season 13-8 overall and 1-5 in the Atlantic 10 (A-10). Kavya Patel and Savanna Kollock earned A-10 All-Conference selections last season. Davidson fell to Massachusetts, 4-1, in the A-10 Quarterfinals to conclude the 2025 campaign.
- Campbell – The Camels wrapped up the 2025 season 8-9 overall and 3-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). Ilouna Aneca returns as the leader in singles from last season with eight wins. Jessia Maras returns this season after leading the squad with six doubles victories last year.
- UNCW – The Seahawks concluded the 2025 slate 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the CAA. UNCW fell to Charleston, 4-1, in the CAA Quarterfinals to wrap up the season. Elif Albayrak, Alex Borcich and Lucia Gomez return as the leaders in singles after the trio notched 10 wins apiece last season. Alicia Eberwein returns as the overall leader in doubles last year with 11.
- NC A&T – The Aggies wrapped up the 2025 spring season at 9-10 overall and 0-4 in the CAA. Juana Gomez Weiss returns as the leading Aggie in singles last season with 11. Hana El Sherif returns to the court after pacing the squad with nine doubles wins last year.
