MACON, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team fell in its final regular season match to the Bears of Mercer on Saturday (21-25, 18-25, 17-25) at Hawkins Arena in Macon, Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Allie Sweet put the Spartans up first in the Saturday's matchup with a kill for the 1-0 lead. Mercer bounced back with a 4-1 run to take the 4-2 advantage. Later with Mercer leading 6-5, the Spartans notched three consecutive points to take the 8-6 lead. The Spartans were able to hold the advantage until Mercer recorded a 7-0 run for the 18-15 lead. The Bears went on to claim set one, 25-21.
 
A service ace from Sweet gave UNCG the first lead of set two until Mercer bounced back with four unanswered points to take control and stay on top the the rest of the game. The Bears utilized a .389 hitting percentage, their highest of the match to claim the second set, 25-18, for the 2-0 lead.

The Bears continued their momentum into the final set by starting off with a 5-0 run and never looking back. Although UNCG stayed within range, Mercer would be able to go on and  earn set three, 25-17, for the 3-0 win.  

BY THE NUMBERS

• McKenna Timmerman led the Spartans with 10 kills.
• Izora Gragg paced the squad with 25 assists and led the match with three blocks.
• Sweet led the squad with 10 digs and added six kills.
