SoCon Announces Volleyball Players of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore Gabby Seeds of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Setter of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.

Seeds stood out this week with 69 assists and an 8.63 assists per set average across eight sets. Seeds added four service aces, 18 digs and 2.0 total blocks on the week. She posted her fourth double-double of the season and sixth of her career after leading the match against ETSU with 40 assists and adding 12 digs.

"I am so blessed to receive SoCon Setter of the Week," said Seeds. "This award reflects the hard work the team has put in this season. I truly couldn't run an offense without them. Now being halfway through conference, we're going to keep using our momentum and continue to build our chemistry and work hard the rest of the season. I can't wait to see what's in store for this team!"

The Plano, Texas, native is second in SoCon with 608 total assists this season and a 9.65 assists per set average.

Seeds' recognition is the first conference award of her career and fifth SoCon Player of the Week award for the Spartans this season. Allie Sweet was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 1 & Sept. 15), Chloe Nussbaum earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1 and Connore' Siler-Nixon was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6.

The last time UNCG earned five SoCon weekly awards in a season was in 2021 as the Spartans collected nine that year.
