Many of us live each day being pulled around by our emotions or ignoring our emotions to feel in control of them. We don't quite understand our feelings until we're reacting to them and often our reactions cause bigger problems. This group teaches us skills to regulate our emotions and survive the upsetting events that come up in our daily lives. Once we have more awareness of our internal experience, we'll learn techniques to communicate our feelings and needs to others. By the end of this group, you'll have a better understanding of your emotional experiences and more control over how you respond. The Bend Don't Break group will run on Mondays 3:30pm-4:45pm starting September 8th at Counseling and Psychological Services. If you are interested in joining or have questions, please email Vanessa Fox at Counseling and Psychological Services, vafox2@uncg.edu Learn more at http://uncg.presence.io/event/bend-dont-break-counseling-group-4 - Sep 294:10 PMNavigating the International Student Journey: Voices, Challenges, and Pathways to SuccessSpartan Connect Events | Virtual + Foust 206

This interactive panel brings together 3-4 international students from diverse backgrounds to share authentic perspectives on the international student experience at UNCG. Through personal narratives, our panelists will explore the multifaceted journey of studying abroad, highlighting both the challenges and triumphs that shape their academic and personal growth. The discussion will address key stressors commonly faced by international students, including cultural adaptation, academic transitions, financial pressures, language barriers, and social integration. Equally important, panelists will celebrate their achievements, resilience, and the unique perspectives they bring to the UNCG community. A central focus will be building upon existing support systems and exploring innovative opportunities to further enrich the international student experience. Panelists will share insights about resources that could amplify student success, highlight support networks that have been transformative in their journeys, and strategies that helped them thrive. This session aims to foster greater understanding between international students and faculty/staff while building bridges for more effective support. The interactive format will include dedicated time for Q&A, encouraging direct dialogue about how the UNCG community can continue to serve its international student population and create more inclusive environments for global learners. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the international student perspective and practical strategies for supporting global students in their academic journey and beyond.
