The workshop begins with a PowerPoint presentation introducing key sustainability principles, including reducing waste, conserving energy, and adopting eco-friendly habits at home and on campus. Participants then engage in a hands-on activity, such as upcycling old materials into functional or decorative items, creating mini compost bins, or making reusable bags, allowing them to put sustainable practices into action. The session concludes with a reflection period in the classroom, where students discuss what they learned, share experiences, and explore ways to incorporate these practices into their daily lives, fostering both personal and community-level environmental responsibility

Catalyst is a program where participants engage in meaningful service and be a spark for change! You and your fellow students will have the opportunity to learn about the social and environmental issues that have an impact on our community, serve alongside community partners in the triad, and reflect on your experiences as a group. During this Catalyst, we’ll complete a service opportunity in support of food insecurity. Join us in supporting our food security institutions in Greensboro! Catalyst Days are open to all UNCG students. We have space for 13 participants, and registration is open until spots are filled. Once you complete the registration, your Catalyst Leaders will be in contact you with information about next steps. If you have questions, please contact Emma Burke at ekburke@uncg.edu.
