UNC Greensboro’s Women’s Basketball guard Alexis Pitchford, or “A.P.,” is as well-known off the court as she is on the court. When she’s not competing, you’ll find the media studies major helping produce live broadcasts for Spartan Athletics, writing for the student newspaper, and connecting with the local community. “UNCG is truly a village,” says A.P. “It’s a village that takes care of everyone and has something for everyone. “I love working with my hands,” says Henrietta Raven Dial Stanley, Lumbee tribe member and a student in the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies program at UNC Greensboro. Randall Simmons dreams of stage lights, opening nights and the unexpected thrills only a director of theater can experience. UNC Greensboro’s Guarantee Scholar Program provided financial support for the Mt. Airy native to earn his bachelor’s degree in drama. UNCG professors encouraged him to explore the arts locally and overseas. Samaya Roary, a UNC Greensboro Lloyd International Honors College scholar, earned a double major in political science and communications, all the while serving and advocating for her fellow Spartans. Now a recent graduate, Samaya is taking the skills she learned in the classroom and as student government president at UNCG to Washington, D.C.
