The Panthers made their first three-pointer at 17:22 and Giles dropped five-straight points for a 9-5 advantage. The Blue & Gold maintained the lead until 7:56 on the clock when High Point's Juslin Bodo Bodo dunked for a one-point lead, 21-20. Both teams had five points each in the final minutes as High Point went to the locker room with a 38-34 advantage.

UNCG came out of the break with a 10-2 run to go up four, 45-41. The Spartans stayed ahead for 11:44 until the Panthers' Terry Anderson made a second-chance tip-in layup at 3:49 for the 66-65 lead. The crowd erupted as Giles drained a buzzer-beating three-pointer with 2:33 left in the game.
