Men’s Golf Claims First Place at Bryan National; Hernandez Wins First Collegiate Tournament
BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team claimed first place at the Bryan National Collegiate on Tuesday at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, North Carolina.
Sophomore Kelvin Hernandez notched his first collegiate win at the three-day tournament behind an eight-under-par (208).
"This week went pretty well," said Hernandez. "We came up with a team win and I won as an individual which feels pretty good to start off the season. With this win I feel like it gives us a huge confidence boost for the rest of the season. It's a surreal feeling being able to win my first college event because this is what you dream of when you play college golf. It was getting close at the end but I just told myself to keep it together and grind out the last couple of holes which I did. Making a birdie on 17 was a huge moment for capturing my first win. I feel like with this win it just makes you realize that you can win any college tournament you want if you believe in yourself and just trust in your game every week. "
Tuesday's win marks the second consecutive year the Spartans have earned the first-place title at the Bryan National Collegiate.
