GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf Head Coach Terrance Stewart has announced that Dirk Fennie has been elevated to associate head coach, released on Wednesday.

"Coach Fennie has been a tremendous part of the program's growing success over the years," said Stewart. "He is truly a head coach in every aspect, and we are very lucky to have him as a member of the Spartans. I'm looking forward to the years ahead and see what the team can accomplish with his guidance and our own tremendous friendship."

Fennie began his UNCG coaching career in the 2018-19 season. In the past six seasons, he has been a part of major milestones within the men's golf program. In his first season, the team claimed first place at The Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships.

In addition, during his tenure the squad has earned bids to four NCAA Regionals, while making Division I program history by Kelvin Hernandez going to the NCAA Championships in the 2023-24 season.

Fennie was recently inducted into the Greensboro College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024. He led the Greensboro men's golf team from 2009-2017, and helped bring the program its second National Championship in 2011. He was also named the 2011 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III Coach of the Year.

The Spartans most recently closed out the 2024 fall slate with three Spartans finishing in the top 10 of the individual App State Intercollegiate on Monday. In addition, the team captured two wins during the fall season at the Bryan National Collegiate and the Elon Invitational.

UNCG returns to action in 2025 by hosting the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate from Feb. 9-11 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, at Palmas Del Mar Flamboyan.
