Men’s Golf Secures Win at Sea Palms Invitational

SEA ISLAND, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team secured the first-place finish in the Sea Palms Invitational on Saturday at the Sea Palms Resort.

SEA ISLAND, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team secured the first-place finish in the Sea Palms Invitational on Saturday at the Sea Palms Resort.
 
Saturday's win marks the team's fourth first-place finish this season. UNCG also finished first at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 25, 2025, the Bryan National Collegiate on Sept. 10, 2024, and the Elon Invitational on Oct. 15, 2024.
 
The last time UNCG collected four tournament wins in a single season was in 2018-19 when the team earned The Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship Title. However, this is the first time in UNCG men's golf program history the team has collected four regular season tournament wins.

TEAM

  • UNCG finished the three-day tournament with a 21-under-par (831) behind rounds of 268-279-284.
  • Davidson finished just behind the Spartans in second place with a five-under-par (847).
  • The Spartans and Wildcats were the only two teams in the 20-team field to finish with an under-par team score.
  • Drexel notched third place with an even-par score (852).
  • SoCon foe and host school Western Carolina finished in a tie for 13th place with Murray State with a 19-over-par (871).

INDIVIDUAL

  • Jake Lewis led the scorecard for the Spartans to earn his best collegiate finish in a tie for second place with Davidson's Joshua Stewart.
  • The freshman posted a career-best eight-under-par (63) in the first round before carding a one-under-par (70) in round two and an even-par (71) in the final round.
  • Jack Marcotte finished just behind Lewis to earn fourth place with rounds of 69-70-68 for a six-under-par (207).
  • Kelvin Hernandez concluded the tournament in 13th place. Hernandez posted a six-under-par (65) in round one and carded 68-79 in the final two rounds for a one-under-par (212) finish.
  • B.J. Boyce finished tied for 39th place with a four-over-par (217). Boyce notched an even-par (71) on Thursday, a five-over-par (76) on Friday before coming back to the field on Saturday to post a one-under-par (70).
  • Colin Dutton rounded out team play for the Spartans with a seven-over-par (220) to finish tied for 54th place with rounds of 74-71-75.
  • Liam Percy competed as an individual and carded a two-over-par (73) on Friday and a four-over-par (75) on Saturday. Percy did not compete in Thursday's first round.

The Spartans will stay in Sea Island, Georgia, to compete in the Johnnie-O at Sea Island, hosted by Rutgers on Monday and Tuesday at Seaside Golf Course.
