SoCon Announces Men's Golfers of the Week
 
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jake Lewis of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Lewis finished on top for the Spartans in two tournaments this week. He led the scorecard for the team to earn his best collegiate finish in a tie for second place at the Sea Palms Invitational on Saturday. The freshman posted a career-best eight-under-par (63) in the first round before carding a one-under-par (70) in round two and an even-par (71) in the final round.

In the Johnnie-O at Sea Island, Lewis tied with Jack Marcotte to finish tied for 10th place with an even-par score (140). Lewis notched rounds of 72-68 in the tournament.

"This award means a lot to me as it serves as a reminder that my hard work throughout this season is being paid off," said Lewis. "Playing two events back-to-back can be tough, and these good results wouldn't be possible without everyone on the team working as hard as they do. This week showed that our lineup can all step up to propel us to good team performances, which gives us confidence for the remainder of the season."

Wednesday's recognition marks the fourth SoCon Golfer of the Week mention for the team this season. Marcotte and Colin Dutton received SoCon Co-Golfers of the Week honors on Feb. 26, 2025, while Kelvin Hernandez earned the honor back on Sept. 11, 2024, after winning the Bryan National Collegiate.

UNCG continues to lead the SoCon in Men's Golfer of the Week recognitions with 40 in program history.
