Men’s Soccer Announces 2025 Spring Slate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer Head Coach Chris Rich has announced the team's 2025 spring schedule.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer Head Coach Chris Rich has announced the team's 2025 spring schedule.

The spring slate consists of five matches, including four exclusive to competing in the Carolina Cup. However, the Spartans will first face Carolina Core FC out of MLS Next Pro on March 1 at 5:00 p.m. in High Point, N.C.

"We are excited to play our local professional team, Carolina Core FC, and kick off the second year of the Carolina Cup," said Coach Rich. "Playing a professional team is always a great challenge for our group, and we're glad we were able to set this up with our neighbors down the road!"

UNCG will then host High Point on March 8 at 4:00 p.m. before welcoming in UNC Wilmington (UNCW) on March 29 at 4:00 p.m. After heading to Campbell on April 5 for a match at 6:00 p.m., the Spartans will compete in the Carolina Cup Festival at Truist Point Stadium in High Point from April 11-12.

The Carolina Cup will feature eight teams broken up to compete in two groups this spring. The groups include UNCG, Campbell, High Point and UNCW in one as well as Davidson, Gardner-Webb, South Carolina and Wofford in the other. Each team will play three games throughout the spring against each team from their respective group. The schedule will then be capped with the Carolina Cup Festival, where the first-place, second-place, third-place and fourth-place finishers from both groups will play each other.

"We have expanded the Carolina Cup to eight total teams this year. Playing three group stage games and then a playoff game at Truist Park will provide our players a highly competitive environment that simulates the fall season."

The Spartans are coming off winning their 10th Southern Conference (SoCon) Regular Season Championship last fall after posting a 3-1-1 mark in conference play as well as a 10-2-5 record overall. UNCG finished 8-0-2 at home, marking its first undefeated season at home since playing to an 8-0 record at UNCG Soccer Stadium back in 2002.

UNCG made four additions to its roster via the transfer portal over the break. The new faces that have come to Greensboro include Tylar Elliott (Chowan), Xavi Csato (Stetson), Kimito Fritz (UTRGV) and Julien Le Bourdoulous (Kansas City).
