MACON, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team opened The Southern Conference (SoCon) play with a 1-1 draw at Mercer on Saturday night at Betts Stadium.

Senior midfielder Jack Birch scored the game-tying goal for the Spartans in the 83rd minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Barzee Blama put the Bears on top in the first half at 21:00 when he buried a bicycle kick into the lower-right corner moments after a corner kick was broken up in front of the goal. Mercer controlled play during the first half, owning a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks and 6-3 upper hand in shots.

UNCG fought back in the second half and eventually found the equalizer. Birch was the one who tied it in the 83rd minute when he found the ball after it strayed away from traffic and fired it into the bottom-left corner behind Mercer's Trevor McMullen from the top of the box.
