Haruna and Tattevin Score Twice as Men’s Soccer Thumps Elon, 4-1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team­­ prevailed 4-1 over the Elon Phoenix in a non-conference match on Tuesday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team­­ prevailed 4-1 over the Elon Phoenix in a non-conference match on Tuesday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The win extended UNCG's unbeaten streak to nine games.

The Spartans scored three of their four goals before there was 10 minutes elapsed in the match. UNCG was led by freshman Issah Haruna and sophomore Arnaud Tattevin, who each had a brace with one assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCG grabbed the game's first lead with 2:00 elapsed after Issah Haruna intercepted a pass from an Elon defender in front of the goal and sent it back in with his right foot. Then in the ninth minute, Arnaud Tattevin scored on a penalty kick after Steven Hernandez drew a foul a couple steps inside the box. Just over a minute later, UNCG made it 3-0 at 9:57 when Haruna scored off a give-and-go exchange near the top of the box with Tattevin. The Spartans carried a 4-0 lead into the half after getting another goal from Tattevin in the 34th minute that was assisted by Enzo Dovlo and Haruna on an odd-man rush down the pitch in the 34th minute.

UNCG surrendered its first goal against at home this season when Elon's August Guinle scored the only goal of the second half to cut the Spartans' lead to 4-1 in the 55th minute.

- Haruna set a career-high with five points via two goals and an assist.
- Tattevin also posted five points with two goals and an assist.
- Dovlo earned his second assist of the season on the Spartans' fourth goal.
- Emmanuel Hagan and Tim Baerwalde played the entire 90 minutes.
