Men’s Tennis Falls on Road to No. 10 NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell by a final score of 7-0 while competing on the road against the No. 10-rated NC State Wolfpack at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell by a final score of 7-0 while competing on the road against the No. 10-rated NC State Wolfpack at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolfpack got on the board first with back-to-back wins to earn the doubles point. The nation's No. 17 doubles pairing of Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek beat UNCG's Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Luke Thomson, 6-2, to get the dual started. Ranked as the No. 22 doubles pair in the country, Jules Leroux and Luca Staeheli won the second doubles, 6-2, over Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz to secure the first point of the day.

NC State then won six straight singles matches to win the dual, 7-0. It started with Leroux taking down Black, 6-1, 6-1, to make it 2-0 Wolfpack. NC State's William Manning won the second singles match, 6-1, 6-0, over Moskowitz to make it 3-0. Thomson was then handed a 6-1, 6-3 loss by Van Sambeek before the nation's No. 24-rated singles player in Braden Shick won, 6-4, 7-6 (4), over Khrystyuk to put the Wolfpack up 5-0. No. 107 Staeheli made it 6-0 for NC State, defeating John Gabelic, 7-6 (8), 6-2. Noah Gabriel then earned the seventh and final point for NC State over UNCG's William Elmers, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (14).
