James Madison Edges Men’s Tennis, 4-3

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 4-3 while competing in a non-conference dual on Thursday against the James Madison Dukes at the Hillside Courts in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 4-3 while competing in a non-conference dual on Thursday against the James Madison Dukes at the Hillside Courts in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The Dukes earned the first point of the afternoon by prevailing in doubles. After William Elmers and Luke Thomson won the first doubles match, 6-1, over Edson Sanchez and Aurelien Schmitt, Harrison Lee and Dennis Wiebe as well as Esteve Agusti and Zach Fleishman earned 6-3 and 6-4 victories, respectively, to secure the doubles point.

UNCG's Devon Moskowitz tied the match, 1-1, when he defeated Sanchez to open singles action, 6-2, 6-2. The Spartans then secured their first lead of the day, 2-1, with Tymofiy Khrystyuk's 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over Schmitt. James Madison tied the match at 2-2 with Wiebe's 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Elmers. The Dukes reclaimed the lead, 3-2, with Fleishman earning the next win in singles, 6-4, 7-6 (2), over Andrew Black. Lee secured the victory for James Madison with a singles win over Eric Lindemann, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. John Gabelic earned one final point for UNCG with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Agusti in the last singles match, but the Dukes walked away with more points by a 4-3 margin.
