Men’s Tennis Falls on Road at Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 6-1 while taking on the Samford Bulldogs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Saturday afternoon at Samford Tennis Center.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 6-1 while taking on the Samford Bulldogs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Saturday afternoon at Samford Tennis Center.

Samford got on the board first by earning the doubles point. The Bulldogs got the point by prevailing in the first two doubles matches. J.B. Pickard and Darcy Nicholls won the first doubles, 6-3, over UNCG's Tymofiy Khrystyuk and John Gabelic. Victorio Sardinha and Sebastian Harrison then won 6-3 over Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz. UNCG's Luke Thomson and William Elmers concluded doubles action winning 7-6 (7-5) over Sandeep Mohandoss and Santiago Arredondo, but Samford had already earned the point for a 1-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs kept it going in singles when Will Gray defeated Elmers, 6-4, 6-0, to make it 2-0 Samford. Pickard then won 6-1, 6-3 over Black to make it 3-0. UNCG got on the board and cut it to 3-1 with Khrystyuk winning 6-2, 6-3 over Mohandoss. Samford extended its lead to 4-1 when Hayden Menon defeated Thomson, 7-5, 6-4. The Bulldogs then made it 5-1 with a win by Nicholls over Gabelic, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. The final singles match saw Harrison prevail over Moskowitz, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8), as the dual ended with Samford on top, 6-1.
