Men’s Tennis’ Match vs. Wofford To Be Played Monday Before Hosting Campbell on Wednesday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team will host the Wofford Terriers in Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the UNCG Tennis Courts before welcoming in the Campbell Camels on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

  • UNCG is 5-9 overall and 1-2 in the SoCon.
  • The Spartans are coming off a 4-3 setback after facing the James Madison Dukes on the road on Thursday.
  • All five of the Spartans' wins this season have come at home. UNCG is 5-3 at home and 0-6 on the road.
  • William Elmers and John Gabelic are leading the Spartans in doubles with a team-best 6-4 record.
  • Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz are 5-9 so far while competing in doubles.
  • Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Luke Thomson own a 3-7 mark in doubles this season.
  • Moskowitz leads the Spartans with a 10-4 record in singles.
  • Gabelic owns the second-best singles record so far at 8-6.
  • Elmers is third on the team with a 5-7 mark in singles.
  • Black and Moskowitz were ranked No. 79 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Doubles Rankings on Dec. 5, 2024.
  • Black and Moskowitz teamed up to post a 7-0 record and six points for their first national ranking in either singles or doubles. The duo earned its seven wins during the fall season, with a pair during the UNCG Fall Invitational, three at the Davidson Fall Invitational and two more during the Spartan Fall Invitational.
  • The Spartans played in five different tournaments this past fall including the UNCG Fall Invitational, Davidson Fall Invitational, ITA Regional Championships, Spartan Fall Invitational and Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
  • Last season's men's tennis squad finished 6-16 overall with an 0-7 mark in the SoCon.
  • The season ended with a 4-0 loss to top-seeded ETSU in the SoCon Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
  • Khrystyuk paced the team in singles with a 9-10 record. Gabelic was right behind him with a 9-12 record for the season.
  • Khrystyuk and Thomson led the way for the Spartans in doubles play with a 5-6 record and 2-2 mark in the SoCon.
  • The Spartans have five returning juniors on their roster this season as well as three freshmen (Elmers, Eric Lindemann and Alan Trbonja) who are in their first year at UNCG.
  • Head Coach Jeff Trivette is in his 25th season with UNCG Tennis.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS

  • Wofford is 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the SoCon.
  • The Terriers last match ended in a 6-1 loss to ETSU at home on Thursday.
  • Wofford's best doubles pairing so far features Jack Deveney and Robbie Young, who have teamed up to post a 6-4 record.
  • The Terriers are led in singles play by Daniel Clivio, who is 5-6 this season.
  • Wofford took down UNCG in last season's meeting, 6-1, on March 19 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
  • Wofford finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 7-12 overall record and 2-5 mark in SoCon action.
  • The Terriers then lost in the first round of the SoCon Tournament, 4-2, to Furman.
  • Wofford men's tennis is under the guidance of Head Coach Rod Ray, who is in his 25th year at the program's helm.

SCOUTING THE CAMELS

  • Campbell owns an overall record of 4-9 with an 0-2 record to start play in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).
  • The Camels are coming off a 4-0 victory over Norfolk State at home on Thursday afternoon.
  • Campbell is led in doubles this season by the pairing of Alex Fragasso and Luke Tollenaar, who are 6-2 together so far in doubles this season.
  • Adi Dagan leads the Camels in singles victories with a 7-3 record.
  • Fragasso is second on the team with a 6-5 mark in singles.
  • Last season's meeting between the Camels and Spartans went the way of Campbell, 6-1, on March 21 in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
  • Last season saw the Camels finish 13-8 overall and finish the season in the second round of the CAA Tournament. After beating Hampton, 4-0, the Camels season ended with a 4-3 setback against Elon.
  • Head Coach David Johnson is in his 27th season with the Campbell men's tennis program.
