Ruffner & Guerrant Earn All-Freshman Honors, Hamilton Medals at SoCon Outdoor Track & Field Championships
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track teams wrapped up competition at the 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Outdoor Championships at the Shauna Yelton Field, hosted by Samford University on Tuesday.
Two Spartans earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors, while three clocked in personal best times and one earned a podium finish.
Logan Ruffner earned his third SoCon All-Freshman Team honor of the season, picking up the accolade during cross country, indoor track season and adding an outdoor award. Pierson Guerrant earned his second SoCon All-Freshman Team honor after taking his first during indoor season.
Ruffner was the first Spartan to cross the finish line in the 1500-meter run, clocking in a personal best time of 3:56.13. He placed sixth out of 11 competitors. Colin Keck also ran in the event, placing eighth overall with a time of 3:58.93 and Lane Prochaska finished in ninth place with a time of 3:59.48.
Evan Pena earned a top 10 finish in the 5000-meter run, placing sixth out of 11 competitors. He ran a time of 14:43.73. Pierson Guerrant earned his All-Freshman honor with his 13th-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:12.77.
Andrew Hamilton medaled in the 800-meter run, taking home third place with a time of 1:51.77. Samuel Barnard earned a fifth place finish out of the 13 competitors with at time of 1:52.94.
Pena took home a second top 10 finish in the 10000-meter event with a time of 31:38.80, placing sixth out of 13 competitors.
On the women's side, Vicky Sosa placed seventh out of 17 competitors in the 10000-meter run with a time of 38:39.92. Tenley Douglass placed 13th in the event, running it for the first time in her collegiate career.
Lillian Douglass ran a personal best time of 18:19.30 in the 5000-meter run, taking home 20th out of 28 competitors.

Those that qualify will go on to compete at the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East Region Championships set for May 28-31 in Jacksonville, Florida.
