Track Set for SoCon Indoor Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's  track teams begin their postseason schedule as they compete in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday.

Meet: 2025 SoCon Indoor Track & Field Championship
When:  Friday, February 28 – Saturday, February 29
Start time:  Friday – (track events) 1:05 p.m. | Saturday – (track events) 11:45 a.m.
Where: Lexington, Va.
Stadium: VMI Corps Physical Training Facility

2025 SoCon Indoor Track & Field Championship Information

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track teams begin their postseason schedule as they compete in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday.

The Championships will take place at VMI's CPTF-Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Virginia.

MEET/FACILITY INFORMATION:

  • This marks the 90th edition of the men's championships.
  • This marks the 38th edition of the women's championships.
  • VMI is hosting the championships for the eighth-straight season.
  • Samford swept the titles last year, with the Bulldog men claiming their fifth-straight SoCon indoor title.
  • The Bulldog women won their ninth-straight title.

HOW THE WOMEN LINE UP

  • Vicky Sosa, Tenley Douglass and Emma Berrier are scheduled to compete in the 3000-meter run.
  • Sosa clocked in a season-best time of 10:20.24 at the GVSU Big Meet.
  • Berrier clocked in a career-best time of 10:37.19 at the JDL Last Chance Invitational this season.
  • Also at the JDL Last Chance Invitational, Douglass recorded a career-best 10:40.95.

HOW THE MEN LINE UP

  • UNCG's 9:59.64 time in the distance medley relay from the GVSU Big Meet is first overall on the SoCon Performance List. Barnard, Mvovi, Schneider and Hamilton broke the school record at the meet.
  • The Spartans' time of 3:23.89 in the 4x400-meter relay is fifth overall on the SoCon Performance List. Mvovi, Schneider, Hamilton and Barnard double backed and broke the school record in the 4x400-meter relay as well.
  • Barnard also broke the school record in the 800-meter run this season with his time of 1:52.25 at the GVSU Big Meet. Barnard's time is second on the SoCon Performance List.
  • Hamilton's 800-meter time of 1:53.43 from the GVSU Big Meet, which is second on the UNCG all-time list, sits fourth on the SoCon Performance List.
  • Mvovi's 800-meter time of 1:55.87 is 11th in the SoCon, while Schneider has run a personal best time of 1:54.99 this season.
  • Ward's personal best time of 8:26.96 from the Mondo College Invitational leads the Spartans in the 3000-meter run and sits 12th in the SoCon.
  • Pena will compete in the 3000-meter run, which he had a season-best time of 8:35.72 this year.
  • Guerrant saw a career-best time in the 3000-meter run at the GVSU Big Meet clocking in a time of 8:42.69.
  • Pena will also run in the 5000-meter run, which his career-best time of 14:55.72 sits 13th in the SoCon.
  • Prochaska and Ruffner are scheduled to run in the mile, where they both ran personal best times this season.

UP NEXT
Those that qualify will compete at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships from March 13-14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
