Four From Men’s Tennis Earn Academic All-District® Honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team had four Spartans named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly CoSIDA, Academic All-District® Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Juniors Andrew Black, John Gabelic, Devon Moskowitz and redshirt junior Luke Thomson were all recognized from the UNCG men's tennis program.
Of the four All-District honors, it marks the second recognition for Gabelic and Moskowitz after they also received accolades from the CSC last year.
To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and need to be in the lineup for 70% of matches that include team scores.
From The Southern Conference (SoCon) four from Furman, three from Mercer and two from Wofford were also named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team.
Black is studying business administration and currently possesses a 3.86 GPA after his junior year. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native finished the season with a 10-13 record in singles as well as 9-13 mark when taking the court to play doubles. Black was ranked No. 79 as a doubles pair alongside Moskowitz on Dec. 5, 2024, in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Doubles Rankings.
Gabelic is majoring in business administration and has a 3.77 GPA. Out of Linköping, Sweden, he finished the season 10-10 for the Spartans in doubles while being 9-14 when competing in singles.
Moskowitz just completed his degree with a 3.72 GPA in computer science. From Alpharetta, Georgia, he led the Spartans this season with a 14-7 record in singles while also posting a 9-13 mark in doubles. Moskowitz was ranked No. 79 as a doubles pair alongside Black on Dec. 5, 2024, in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Doubles Rankings.
Thomson just graduated from UNCG with a 3.51 GPA in kinesiology. Hailing from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Thomson finished the season 8-12 in doubles as well as 5-17 in singles.
THE 2024-25 SEASON
The Spartans' season concluded in the quarterfinal round of the SoCon Tournament. UNCG finished with an overall record of 9-14 and went 2-5 in conference play for sixth place in the SoCon standings.
ABOUT THE HONOR
The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Tuesday, May 20.
