Men’s Golf Tied for Second Place After Day One of Stitch Intercollegiate
RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team stands in a tie for second place after day one of the Stitch Intercollegiate on Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Loonie Poole Golf Course.
Friday was originally scheduled for two rounds, but due to weather, day one of the tournament was shortened to roughly 24 holes. The remainder of round two and the final round will be completed on Saturday.
TEAM
- UNCG is tied for second place with host school, N.C. State after the first day of the two-day tournament.
- The Spartans posted a one-over-par (285) in round one and currently has a one-over-par (101) through 6-9 holes in round two.
- The Wolfpack notched a two-over-par (286) in the first round and so far has an even par (115) in round two.
- Lipscomb stands atop the leaderboard after posting a four-over-par (288) in round one but is recording a four-under-par (123) through a partial second round.
- SoCon foe Wofford stands in eighth place, while Mercer rounds out the leaderboard in 13th place.
- The Spartans are second in the field with a 4.08 average on par fours and 90 total pars.
INDIVIDUAL
- Jack Marcotte and Jake Lewis are pacing the Spartans to stand in a tie for 10th place. Marcotte shot a one-under-par (70) in round one, while Lewis posted an even-par (71).
- Lewis is leading all 74 players in the field with 21 pars.
- Kelvin Hernandez comes right in behind Marcotte and Lewis to be in a tie for 15th place with a one-over-par (72) in the opening round.
- Keenan Royalty, B.J. Boyce and Colin Dutton are tied for 20th place. Royalty and Boyce carded a one-over-par (72) in round one, while Dutton shot a two-over-par (73).
- Will Guidry rounds out the scorecard for the Spartans after notching a one-over-par (72) in round one.
- Michael Vick of N.C. State is leading the player leaderboard after carding a three-under-par (68) in round one.

The Spartans will conclude the remainder of round two and final round of the Stitch Intercollegiate on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Loonie Poole Golf Course.
