Women’s Basketball to Conclude Non-Conference Schedule with Carolina University
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will conclude its non-conference schedule on Friday by hosting Carolina University at 7:00 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium.

Friday's meeting between the Spartans and Bruins will be the first matchup in program history between the two teams.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- The Spartans most recently dominated in a 104-21 victory over Greensboro College on Tuesday in Fleming Gymnasium.
- UNCG tied the fewest points allowed record in a single game conceding 21 points, which last occurred by Wake Forest on March 10, 1970.
- The team also set a new record for most steals in a game with 36, surpassing the previous mark of 27 set against UNC Wilmington during the 2006-07 season.
- The squad tied for the second most field goals in Division I history with 40.
- The team's 83-point victory was the largest margin of victory in the Division I era and third overall.
- In addition, 104 points is tied for the second most points scored in Division I history with the first being against Erskine College with 106 points in the 2019-20 season.

- UNCG forced 54 turnovers on Greensboro College. This marked the first time the team achieved such a high number since the 2018-19 season when they secured a 92-23 victory over Pfeiffer, forcing the Falcons into 42 turnovers.
- Five different Spartans reached double-figures in the game, while 13 Spartans scored.
- Nya Smith led the Spartans with 15 points. Jayde Gamble and Jaila Lee followed closely behind with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Khalis Cain and Nasia Powell rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points apiece.

- UNCG is 8-5 overall on the 2024-25 season, sitting at third place in The Southern Conference (SoCon), behind Western Carolina and Furman, respectively.
- The Spartans are undefeated at home with a 6-0 mark in Fleming Gym.

- Gamble paces the team with 172 points, 68 field goals, 44 assists and 34 steals.
- Smith stands out from behind the arc with 18 three-pointers.
- Lee paces the squad at the charity stripe with 38 free throws for a 70.4 free throw percentage.
- Cain leads the Spartans defensively with 82 boards and eight blocks.
- Smith was named the SoCon Player of the Week on Dec. 24 after leading the Spartans with 19 points and five boards at Wake Forest on Dec. 20.
- The Spartans went 21-12 overall and 8-6 in league play during the 2023-24 season.
- UNCG appeared in the SoCon Championship for the seventh time in program history last season, falling to Chattanooga, 69-60.
- The 2024-25 roster features 10 returners and five newcomers with three transfers and two freshmen.

- Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her ninth season at the helm of the Blue & Gold.
- Patterson tallied her third season achieving 20 or more wins last year, leading UNCG to finish second in the regular season.

SCOUTING CAROLINA UNIVERSITY
- The Bruins will make the short trip from Winston-Salem to Greensboro, coming in with an 8-5 overall mark on the season.
- Carolina University most recently defeated Point University, 75-44, on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at home in Williams Gymnasium.
- Friday's game will be an exhibition match for Carolina University as the team competes in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) under the National Association of Intercollegiate Atheltics (NAIA).
- The Bruins are second in the NCCAA with 225 offensive rebounds.
- Carolina University has the advantage over its opponents in points (869-812), field goals (289-283), three-pointers (86-70), free throws (205-176) and rebounds (603-526).
- Le'Asia Matthews is leading the team with 131 points and 43 field goals.
- Blanca Gonzalez paces the squad with 20 three-pointers, 36 free throws and 20 steals.
- Felesia Ondongo and Shantazia Gordon stand out defensively with 88 rebounds and eight blocks, respectively.
- Nadia McDowell-Jackson is the best passer on the team with 19 assists.
- Head Coach Kimiere Hawkins is in her second season with the Bruins and led the team to a 16-9 overall mark in the 2023-24 campaign.
