Romfo Crowned SoCon Women’s Golfer of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf senior Ava Romfo has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf senior Ava Romfo has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

The Charleston, South Carolina, native won her second collegiate tournament at the UNCG Collegiate on Tuesday. She finished at 10-under-par (206) in the three-round tournament from Monday to Tuesday, which guided the Spartans to a second-place finish. Romfo carded rounds of 68-70-68 and led the tournament with 16 birdies.

"I am grateful to receive this award," Romfo said. "I am also proud of how my teammates and I played this week! It has been great to see my work this season pay off in our last event of the fall!"

The Spartans logged top-four finishes in four of their five tournaments during the fall. Romfo leads the SoCon with a 72.23 stroke average in 13 rounds of play so far.

This is Romfo's second career SoCon weekly honor after earning it last season on March 13 by winning the Puerto Rico Classic.

The UNCG Collegiate marked the conclusion of the Spartans' fall slate. They will begin the spring season hosting the Advance Golf Partner Collegiate from Feb. 9-11 in West Palm, Florida.
