Women’s Golf Seventh After First Day of ECU Ironwood Invitational
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team is in seventh following the first day and two rounds of the ECU Ironwood Invitational on Monday, hosted by East Carolina University (ECU) at Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina.
Senior Ava Romfo is leading the Spartans and tied for ninth after the first two rounds of the tournament. She shot three-over-par (75) in round one and even-par (72) during the second round to finish the day three-over-par (147).
TEAM
- The Spartans are seventh out of 17 teams after shooting a 303 and 304 to finish the first two rounds at 31-over-par (607).
- UNCG is fifth on par four holes at 24-over-par with a 4.24 stroke average.
- Additionally, the Spartans are eighth on par threes at 3.33 strokes per hole while being ninth on par fives at a 5.30 clip.
- UNCG is seventh in the tournament as a team with 112 pars and eighth with 13 birdies.
- Viginia Tech leads the team leaderboard at seven-over-par (583) after two rounds, two strokes ahead of the host school, ECU.
INDIVIDUAL
- Romfo leads the Spartans and is tied for eighth at three-over-par (147) after shooting a 75 and 72. She is tied for fifth when competing on par-four holes at even-par with a 4.00 stroke average. Romfo is tied for sixth with five birdies.
- Freshman Lulu Leetham is second for UNCG and tied for 15th at five-over-par (149) after carding rounds of 72 and 77. She is one-under-par so far on par-five holes for a tie of seventh with a 4.88 stroke average.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine is third on the team and tied for 34th at nine-over-par (153) after shooting a 76 and 77.
- Competing individually, senior Grace Holcomb and freshman Sophie Lauture are each 11-over-par (155) through two rounds. Holcomb and Lauture both scored a 77 in round one before shooting a 78 in round two.
- Lauture is third in the tournament on par threes, shooting even with a 3.00 stroke average on par-three holes.
- Sophomore Elle Burnette is tied for 68th at 15-over-par (159) after shooting an 80 and 79.
- Junior Julia Baeumken is tied for 75th at 17-over-par (161) after shooting an 83 and 78.
- NC State's Marie Madsen leads the field at three-under-par (141) after shooting a 70 and 71.

UP NEXT
The Spartans will play the final round of the tournament on Tuesday with another shotgun start at 9:00 p.m. It will mark the conclusion of the Spartans' regular season.
UNCG will compete in the SoCon Championship from April 14-16 at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.
