Women’s Golf Tied for Ninth After Day One at Golfweek Fall Challenge
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team is tied for ninth following the first round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Sunday at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

TEAM
- UNCG finished in a tie for ninth with Arkansas State on Sunday after shooting a 13-over-par (297) in the first round of the three-day, 18-team and 54-hole tournament.
- UNC Wilmington stands at the top of the team leaderboard after being the only school to finish under par in the opening round. The Seahawks are two-under-par (282).
- The Spartans tied for third on the team leaderboard with 56 pars on day one. Additionally, the Spartans totaled nine birdies to tie for ninth in the field.
INDIVIDUAL
- In her first round competing as a Spartan, freshman Sophie Lauture led the Spartans and finished tied for ninth individually after breaking even (71) on the day. She had 14 pars and a pair of birdies.
- Sophomore Elle Burnette finished second on the Spartans at three-over-par (74) to tie for 32nd. She had nine pars and three birdies.
- Senior Grace Holcomb was third on the team at four-over-par (75) to tie for 45th individually. She finished the first round with 13 pars and one birdie.
- Senior Ava Romfo finished the day at six-over-par (77). She had 11 pars and two birdies.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine finished the first round of the tournament at seven-over-par (78). She had nine pars and one birdie.
