Women’s Golf Takes Fourth at Tiger Classic

CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team logged a fourth-place finish at Clemson's Tiger Classic at John E. Walker Course on Monday with an eight-over-par (584) team score.

CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team logged a fourth-place finish at Clemson's Tiger Classic at John E. Walker Course on Monday with an eight-over-par (584) team score.

TEAM

  • UNCG finished five-over-par (293) in the first round and three-over-par (291) in the second and final round of the one-day, 16-team and 36-hole tournament.
  • The Spartans finished six strokes ahead of The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Mercer, which finished fifth, and 33 ahead of another SoCon opponent in Western Carolina, which placed 14th in the tournament.
  • Georgia Southern won the title with a 17-under-par (559) showing. Campbell finished in second at two-under-par (572) and the host team, Clemson, concluded the day one-over par (577) for third.
  • UNCG totaled 105 pars and 32 birdies over the two rounds of play throughout the day.
     

INDIVIDUAL

  • In her Spartan debut, sophomore Kasey McIlvaine paced UNCG at one-over-par (145) to finish tied for 14th in the tournament. She totaled seven birdies in the two rounds of action.
  • Seniors Grace Holcomb and Ava Romfo finished second on the team with a two-over-par (146) tying for 18th. Holcomb totaled nine birdies while Romfo recorded seven on the day.
  • Sophomore Elle Burnette finished five-over-par (149) to tie for 31st. Burnette recorded five birdies throughout the day.
  • Junior Julia Baeumken concluded with a six-over-par (150) performance that landed her tied for 41st. She totaled four birdies, including three in the first round and one in the second.
