Women’s Golf to Compete in Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team makes its way to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to compete in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational from Friday to Sunday, hosted by North Carolina (UNC) at Finley Golf Club.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team makes its way to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to compete in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational from Friday to Sunday, hosted by North Carolina (UNC) at Finley Golf Club.

The Spartans are coming off a tie for third place at the Pirate Collegiate Classic in Greenville, North Carolina. UNCG freshman Sophie Lauture was named to the all-tournament team after finishing fourth in the tournament at three-under-par (141).

THE FORMAT
The three-day, 17-team and 54-hole tournament gets underway on Friday at 8:30 a.m. The second round will also begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday before the tournament's final round on Sunday, which will feature a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

LAST TIME OUT FOR UNCG

  • The Spartans carded a four-over-par (292) in the opening round of the Pirate Collegiat Classic on Sept. 30 and made it a couple of holes into the second round as well before inclement weather put the tournament on hold until Oct. 1.
  • UNCG finished in a tie for third at 15-over-par (591) after finishing the second and final round 11-over-par (299).
  • The Spartans totaled 29 birdies as a team in the tournament.
  • UNCG finished the tournament third in terms of total birdies (39) and fifth for pars (173).
  • Lauture led the Spartans at three-under-par (141) in the tournament by carding rounds of 71 and 70. She totaled 10 birdies in the tournament.
  • Romfo and Burnette tied for 17th at four-over-par (148).
  • Romfo shot one-under-par (71) in the first round and five-over (77) in the second while Burnette carded an even par (72) and a four-over (76). Romfo and Burnette each finished the two rounds with six total birdies.
  • Baeumken tied for 48th while finishing at 10-over-par (154). She carded rounds of 78 and 76 and had three birdies.
  • McIlvaine tied for sixth, finishing even par (144) while competing individually. She carded rounds of 71 and 73 and earned six birdies.

The Spartans will host the UNCG Collegiate at Forest Oaks in Greensboro, North Carolina, from Oct. 21-22 to close out the fall portion of their schedule.
