Women’s Golf Places 11th at City of Oaks Collegiate
RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team finished 11th at the City of Oaks Collegiate, hosted by NC State at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina.
RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team finished 11th at the City of Oaks Collegiate, hosted by NC State at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine led the team and finished tied for 22nd after shooting a 16-over-par (232) during the three-round tournament.
TEAM
- The Spartans finished 88-over-par (952), shooting 43-over-par (331) in round one, a 16-over-par (304) in round two and 28-over-par (316) in round three.
- UNCG made a jump from 15th place to a tie for 10th during the second round on day one before finishing 11th after the third round on day two of the tournament.
- UNCG ranked sixth as a team with 23 birdies during the three rounds.
- The Spartans were at their best on par-three holes, averaging 3.25 strokes on par threes, which tied for ninth with Marshall in the tournament.
- UNCG finished 11 strokes ahead of the only other Southern Conference (SoCon) school in the tournament, Western Carolina, which finished 14th at 99-over-par (963).
- East Carolina won the City of Oaks Collegiate at 22-over-par (886).
INDIVIDUAL
- McIlvaine tied for 22nd at 16-over-par (232) after shooting rounds of 82-76-74.
- Senior Ava Romfo shot 23-over-par (239) to tie for 42nd after posting rounds of 81-76-82. She finished the tournament tied for seventh with seven birdies.
- Sophomore Elle Burnette shot 24-over-par (240) for a tie of 48th after shooting an 84-74-82.
- Freshman Lulu Leetham finished tied for 55th at 25-over-par (241). She posted round scores of 84-79-78.
- Freshman Sophie Lauture tied for 85th after shooting 38-over-par (254) with rounds of 87-84-83.
- East Carolina's Danielle Modder won the individual title at two-over-par (218).

The Spartans will compete in their final tournament ahead of the SoCon Championship (April 14-16) when they take part in the ECU Ironwood Invitational, hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, North Carolina, on March 31 and April 1.
