Women’s Golf Starts Spring Hosting Advance Golf Partners Collegiate in Florida
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team is set to host the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate from Sunday to Tuesday at Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Florida.
It marks the first of five events this spring for the Spartans, who finished fourth or better in four of their five tournaments during the fall. It included capping the autumn slate with a runner-up finish while hosting the UNCG Collegiate, which saw senior Ava Romfo win the individual title.

THE FORMAT
The Advance Golf Partners Collegiate will be a 54-hole competition with 18 teams. Play will begin with the first round on Sunday at 8:00 a.m., second round on Monday at 8:00 a.m. and the third and final round starting at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Each day will be in a shotgun start format. There will be no playoffs or tiebreakers. Co-champions will be named if needed.

LAST TIME OUT FOR UNCG
- The Spartans completed their fall slate with a season-best second-place finish while hosting the UNCG Collegiate at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro.
- UNCG finished nine-under-par (851) in the two-day and three-round event with round scores of 282-288-285.
- Romfo was the champion of the tournament at 10-under-par (206) after shooting 68-70-68. She also led the tournament with 16 birdies.
- It marked a career-best score for Romfo in a single tournament and resulted in her second collegiate title after previously winning the Puerto Rico Classic last spring.
- The Spartans finished four strokes shy of High Point for the top spot and 33 strokes ahead of the third-place team, Longwood.
- As a team, the Spartans totaled 48 birdies and 171 pars for second in both categories during the three-round tournament.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine finished third on the player leaderboard with rounds of 71-68-74 to score three-under-par (213). She led all student-athletes with 39 pars.
- Senior Grace Holcomb and sophomore Elle Burnette tied for third on the Spartans and 14th overall at five-over-par (221). Holcomb posted a 72-75-74 while Burnette put up 71-75-75. Holcomb tied for sixth with 11 birdies while Burnette tied for third with 37 pars.
- Competing as an individual, junior Julia Baeumken carded the best round of the tournament when she scored a 64 in the second round on Monday afternoon. She finished with rounds of 80-64-79 to tie for 18th at seven-over-par (223). Baeumken tied for sixth overall with 11 birdies
- Freshman Sophie Lauture tied for 20th at nine-over-par (225).
- Freshman Lulu Leetham ended right behind Lauture to tie for 22nd at 10-over-par (226).
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- The Spartans finished fourth or better in four of their first five tournaments back in the fall.
- UNCG broke the single-round tournament record for the Golfweek Fall Challenge at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, on Sept. 9 in round two by shooting a 13-under-par (271). The Spartans later finished third in the event.
- The Spartans finished fourth in the Clemson Invitational on Aug. 26 at Walker Course in Clemson, South Carolina, to begin the fall.
- UNCG also tied for third in the Pirate Collegiate Classic from Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Greenville, North Carolina.
- Romfo leads the team and is second in The Southern Conference (SoCon) with a 72.23 stroke average.
- McIlvaine is second on the squad, averaging 73.31 strokes per round.
- Lauture is third with a 73.73 stroke average.
- Burnette stands at fourth averaging 74.77 strokes per round, while Holcomb and Baeumken average 75.00 and 76.80 per round, respectively.
- The Spartans have three newcomers this season, including freshmen Leetham and Lauture as well as a sophomore transfer from Marshall in McIlvaine.
