Women’s Golf Tied for Fifth After First Day at Advance Golf Partners Collegiate

PALM CITY, Fla. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team stands tied for fifth on Sunday after the first of three rounds in three days at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate in Palm City, Florida, hosted by UNCG.

Sophomores Elle Burnette and Kasey McIlvaine paced the Spartans, tying for 16th on the player leaderboard after shooting a one-over-par (73) on day one.

TEAM

  • The Spartans finished eight-over-par (296) to end the day tied for fifth with Memphis.
  • Virginia Tech concluded the first round with a 16-stroke lead after shooting 13-under-par (275).
  • The only other Southern Conference (SoCon) foe in the field, East Tennessee State, ended the first round in second place at three-over-par (291).
  • UNCG totaled the second-most birdies on day one with 15, four shy of Virginia Tech's 19 in the first round.

 
INDIVIDUAL

  • Burnette and McIlvaine each finished in a tie for 16th at one-over-par (73).
  • Senior Grace Holcomb and freshman Lulu Leetham tied for 32nd at three-over-par (75).
  • Competing as an individual, junior Julia Baeumken is tied for 42nd at four-over-par (76).
  • Freshman Sophie Lauture is tied for 57th at five-over-par (77). She leads the Spartans with four birdies.
