East Carolina Edges Women’s Soccer, 2-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team fell to East Carolina, 2-1, in non-conference play on Thursday night at Johnson Stadium.

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team fell to East Carolina, 2-1, in non-conference play on Thursday night at Johnson Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 12th minute of the game, UNCG's Taylor Mentzer found Ryen Ortiz charging down the left channel. Ortiz sent a cross with her left foot to the top of the box and Mentzer ripped a shot to the back right corner to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead at 11:40.
 
The Pirates later registered a goal in the 30th minute as Sydney Schnell hooked a shot into the net from the top left of the 18-yard box to tie the game, 1-1.
 
East Carolina's Emma Sheehan then chipped in the game-winning goal at 75:58.

  • The Spartans had four saves, while the Pirates had three saves.
