Beck Hits Walk-Off Home Run in 2-1 Win Over Radford
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team extended its win streak to six games with a 2-1 walk-off win over non-conference foe Radford on Wednesday at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team extended its win streak to six games with a 2-1 walk-off win over non-conference foe Radford on Wednesday at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
- Radford put the first run up in the top of the first on a RBI double. Lee led off with a walk and then scored with one out on Smith's double to left center, 1-0.
- The Spartans saw their first base runner in the bottom of the second, but stranded two leaving the Highlanders on top, 1-0.
- After four more scoreless innings, UNCG acted with two outs.
- With one out, Salem Ward singled through the right side and after a second out, Samantha Beck crushed a two-run home run over the left field wall for the walk-off win, 2-1.
- This was Beck's third homer of the season and eighth of her career.
- Jorde Chartrand started in the circle for the Spartans and pitched 4.0 innings, giving up just two hits and one earned run.
- Reese Byrd came in relief and pitched 3.0 innings, giving up just one hit and no runs earning her sixth win of the season.
