Women’s Tennis Drops Contest with Davidson, 6-1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 contest with Davidson on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 contest with Davidson on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

"We had a couple of key people out sick today and it challenged us in achieving what we wanted to in this match," said Head Coach Mat Iandolo. "I am very proud of Alexandra and how she fought through." 

Davidson was able to snag the first point of the day after collecting two doubles matches. Charlotte Calderwood and Ellie Hammond defeated Elisabeth Birkevold and Ella Olexa, 6-0, on court three just before Bryson Langford and Ines Roti claimed a 6-3, win over Sydney Bly and Raegan Mitchell on court two. Alexandra Dodashev and Olivia Gallagher were besting Kaya Patel and Daniela Porges in their unfinished match on court one, 4-3, to conclude doubles play.
 
Davidson continued its momentum into singles action by claiming the first five matches. First, Patel earned a 6-0, 6-2, win over Gallagher on court one just before Langford defeated Mitchell, 6-0, 6-1, on court three. Hammond clinched the match for the Wildcats in a 6-1, 6-2, win over Bly on court four. Roti secured a 6-4, 1-0, retired match over Birkevold on court five, while Olivia Hooper gave Davidson its sixth and final point in a 6-4, 6-2, victory over Olexa on court six. Dodashev secured the Spartans' lone point of the day in a back-and-forth battle with Porges on court two, 6-1, 3-6, 11-9. However, Davidson was able to walk away with the 6-1 victory over UNCG.
