SoCon Begins with Spartans Reaching Career Point Milestones

It was a good start to SoCon for men's and women's basketball, and a good start to the new year for two players who led the teams to victory. The post SoCon Begins with Spartans Reaching Career Point Milestones appeared first on UNC Greensboro.

Two UNCG Spartan superstars led the way on the court, surpassing 1,000 career points at the start of 2025, leading men’s and women’s basketball to victory in the SoCon Conference.

Jayde Gamble

The women’s basketball team’s dominating fourth quarter run propelled the squad past ETSU, 64-43, to begin the SoCon schedule in Fleming Gymnasium. Thursday, January 9’s win marks the third straight year that the Spartans have won their conference opener.

Jayde Gamble tallied her 1,000th career point coming at the free throw line at 1:29 in the fourth quarter. She and Khalis Cain led the game with 14 points apiece.

Kenyon Giles

Gamble’s incredible night followed the success of men’s basketball snapping Furman’s six-game win streak, defeating their SoCon competitor 84-67 on Saturday, January 4.

Junior Kenyon Giles paced the game with 25 points which put him over the edge of 1,000 career points.

The Spartans extended their win streak to four with Ronald Polite III’s game-winning three-pointer against Chattanooga on January 9 before falling to Samford in a close game on January 11.
